In their third year of fine performance, Metropolitan Chamber Orchestra (MCO) are considered as one of the most important recent developments in the Sydney orchestral music scene.

Established in February 2009 under the direction of well known and inspirational Australian Artistic Director and Chief Conductor Sarah-Grace Williams, this unique ensemble based in Sydney's inner western suburbs has gained a reputation for delivering intimate performances of the highest quality and vivacity.

A versatile orchestra comprising up to 60 of Sydney’s finest and most vibrant musicians, MCO delivers a wide variety of concert presentations. In addition to performing at prestigious venues including the Sydney Opera House and with internationally renowned artists such as Soprano Sumi Jo, MCO continues their commitment of offering highly accessible, premium standard musical performances from local venues, presenting 6 major concert series in 2011 to audiences in the Inner West. In conjunction with the Pain Management Research Institute, MCO is also presenting a vibrant 3 concert gala series in 2011 which offers selected talented musicians the rare opportunity to work and play beside a MCO mentor. MCO also provides small chamber ensembles (4-20 players) to perform for an array of functions and galas throughout the year.

A number of renowned artists have or have upcoming appearances with MCO including Sumi Jo (Soprano), Francesco Celata (Clarinet), Emma-Jane Murphy (Cello), Matt Dempsey (Trumpet), Rosario La Spina (Tenor), Milijana Nikolic (Mezzo Soprano), Manu Berkeljon (Violin), Susan Collins, (Violin)Barry Ryan (Bariton), Anke Höppner (Soprano), Henry Choo (Tenor), Nicole Car (Soprano), Richard Anderson (Bass), Sian Pendry (Mezzo Soprano), Samuel Dundas (Tenor), Edmond Choo (Tenor), Teresa La Rocca (Soprano) , Christopher Hillier (Baritone) and member s of the Opera Australia Chorus. .
