SUMI JO IN CONCERT

One of the world’s most sought-after sopranos, Sumi Jo returns to the Sydney Opera House for her only Australian concert appearance.

2011 marks the 25th anniversary of the international opera debut of the world famous soprano Sumi Jo.

Praised for her remarkable agility, precision and warmth of her voice, Sumi Jo has established herself as one of her generation’s most sought after sopranos.

For one night only at the Sydney Opera House on 1 December, Sumi Jo will make her only Australian concert appearance as she takes to the stage with the Metropolitan Chamber Orchestra and a special guest tenor, for this unique recital.

Performing arias from Verdi’s La Traviata, Offenbach’s Tales of Hoffman, Lehár’s The Merry Widow, Meyerbeer’s L’ Étoile du Nord (The North Star) and the ever popular O mio babbino caro from Puccini’s Gianni Schichi, the concert promises to be an unforgettable night of opera from this legendary soprano.
